FINAL EX 2

STRATEGY STATEMENT
My chosen architecture is Igualada Cemetery Park by Enric Miralles and Carme Pinas (1985-1996). The main materials of the architecture are precast-concrete, corten steel and natural stone. The theme of my experiment 2 is to present the neglect scene of Igualada Cemetery Park after the disaster. The environment is desolate and uninhabited. The clip will show the contrast between the original architecture and the tornado moment. Also, it will show the decay after 100 years.

WEEK 13

Lecture Reflection: The final lecture we have been looked at the video of custom texture by using photoshop and some website about game careers. After learning this course and cryengine help me learn more about exterior and dynamic environment not just interior. So the role I consider in the furture as an interior architect, I could use this different skills for the interior design like navigate people to move through a dynamic interior space.

WEEK 12

Task for today:

Independent Study:
'The Day after Tomorrow'
The atmosphere and themes that I want to show in my EX2.

'Nihon Chinbotsu'
The themes, music and clips.
‘2022 Tsunami'
Things operate multipul.

'2012 Ice age'
Atmosphere, sound and movie track.

‘Poseidon'
Theme, sound and clips.

Lecture Reflection: Firstly we have been looked at the video of Rayfire (different types of breaking wall).  Secondly we have been looked at some photography from different photographers, which gave me the idea of use details of interior as well to show my idea (after flood). Such as broken bed and wardrobe, mud and becterior on the wall, detail view of paint pilling surface, the texture of wall, or the arrangement of chairs etc. Thirdly, we have been looked at 3 movies' trailer which gave me the idea of things operate multipal and clip about movement. Also the sound of end in '28 days later' gave me the idea of a good control of sound effection.

WEEK 11

Task for today:

3 sketches:
Corten steel

Gabion wall

Precast concrete

Idependent Study:

Lecture Reflection: This week ' s lecture was about forensic architecture. We have been looked at some videos of the building after earthquake, and how explode a building (explosion or inplosion) and what the building looks like after collapse. And one video I thought was very interesting that is about Japanese architect use about 9 months to deconstruct a large building one by one level. You can' t see any change from outside, so there is no noise, damage and dust, just inside is very busy. In addition, we also looked at the deconstruction of different materials in cry engine, such as glass, tree, brick etc.

WEEK 8

Task for today:
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Independent study:

Material research:
CONCRETE: Concrete is a composite material composed mainly of water, ggreate, and cement. Usually there are additives and reinforcements included to achieve the desired physical properties of the finished material. When these ingredients are mixed together, they form a fluid mass that is easily molded into shape. Over time, the cement forms a hard matrix which binds the rest of the ingredients together into a durable stone-like material with many uses. Concrete is a very steady and long-life material and it is not harmful to the environment. Today, it is the most widely used man-made material. It could be used for large public buildings, house, indoor or outdoor environment etc.

STEEL: Steel is an alloy of iron and arbon that is widely used in construction and other applications because of its hardness and tensile strength. Carbon, other elements, and inclusions within iron act as hardening agents that prevent the movement of dislocations that naturally exist in the iron atom crystal lattices. The carbon in typical steel alloys may contribute up to 2.1% of its weight. Varying the amount of alloying elements, their formation in the steel either as solute elements, or as precipitated phases, retards the movement of those dislocations that make iron so ductile and weak, and thus controls qualities such as the hardness, ductility, and tensile strength of the resulting steel. Steel's strength compared to pure iron is only possible at the expense of ductility, of which iron has an excess. Steel is one of the world's most-recycled materials, with a recycling rate of over 60% globally; in the United States alone, over 82,000,000 metric tons (81,000,000 long tons) was recycled in the year 2008, for an overall recyclying rate of 83%.

SANDSTONE: Sandstone (sometimes known as arenite) is a clastic sedimentary rock composed mainly of and-sized inerals or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz and/or feldspar because these are the most common minerals in the Earth' s crust. Like sand, sandstone may be any colour, but the most common colours are tan, brown, yellow, red, grey, pink, white and black. Since sandstone beds often form highly visible cliffs and other topographic features, certain colours of sandstone beds often form highly visible cliffs and other topographis features, certain colours of sandstone have been strongly identified with certain regions.

Week 8 Lecture Reflection:
This week' s lecture we looked at some of other students' workes, and also learned about the material of concrete, steel and brick. Such as what they are used for, the structure and components.

WEEK 7

Task for today:
resulting exported objects in CryEngine

Independent study:
second resulting exported objects in CryEngine

Three selected houses and write 30 words on each:
Church of the light, Tadao Ando, 1980, Lbaraki.
Building type: sacred buildings, church
Sopport structure construction: steel structure conceal fixed on concrete, solid construction
Facade and roof material: Concrete, reinforced concrete, in-situ concrete
Support structure material: reinforced concrete, in-situ concrete
Interior work material: concrete, wood, natural wood
Sabarmati Ashram, Charles Correa, 1917, India.
Main material: tile, timber, brick, stone, concrete
The ashram now has a museum, the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay. This had originally been located in 'Hridaya Kunj', Gandhi's own cottage in the ashram. Then in 1963, having been designed by the architect Chlrles Correa, the museum was built.
Igualada cemetery park, Enric Mirrales and Carme Pinos 1984, Spain.
The Cemetery lies between the valley of river Riera de Odena and industrial part of town Igualada, 60km north from Barcelona. Cemetery reflects the characteristics of both typologies. The main area of the cemetery lies beneath the surroundings and puts a visitor on the same level with the dead, so one can see only stony walls, tombs and sky. Igualada cemetery represents surrounding landscape with form and choice of materials, which are harsh and rough. The idea of passing time is seen in patina of stone and concrete, rust of cor-ten and cracks on wooden railway sleepers.Though materials are very harsh, the general feeling of the cemetery is everything but unpleasant, it is very calm and quiet, intimate, where one can easily remember, without being disturbed.

Week 7 Lecture Reflection: This week' s lecture was about the introduction of experiment 2. And we have been looked at some examples of decay frome islands or buildings which have been abandoned. Also, we were shown 6 architecture that created by other students.
